thanks dear, I'd heard about his arrest. InshAllah he will be released without being beaten or worse.

Ya rabb, it is sick when one overlooks the very injustice of his arrest if only to hope that the worst won't happen to him.

Update from my MIL - they burned the building next to the library where she works, but alhamdulilah, she's not hurt. Craziness.

Alhumdulillah. No one in my husband's family was involved either.

But the injustice of the situation pains me, its not something that can be swallowed.

God, it's so sad.

Mona, have things affected you and your fam in hurghada?

This is so sad.

Sharqawy (the guy arrested from his fiance's home) is an active blogger in the Egyptian blogosphere. This is so sad :(

Organic, I was reading the letter he wrote from prison last year about the beatings and torture he endured. It made me so sick. I feel bad for his fiancee, he was changing her flat tire for her when they took him. Imagine... Allah be with them.

Did you read them? I remember that they were translated in English. I remember skimming the Arabic (and some of the things they left out in the English version, was gross!).

Do you ever read Manal and Alaa's blog?

Unfortunately, if a person is affiliated with politics or religious groups there, you pretty much are high-risk for arrest and humiliation.

Molly said...

I might, what names do they blog under? I'm highly restricted due to my lack of arabic skills.

And I will definitely keep myself out of any political group, and any religious group with political leanings.

I'd like to think I could be a revolutionary, but I really think I'm way too soft.

http://www.manalaa.net/ is the site I was referring to. They write in both English and Arabic.
