There's a lot I want to say about this article from Arab Media & Society but work is just busy enough to keep me too occupied to make it cohesive if I tried.
So read up, and I'll post my notes later this afternoon when we're all sitting around and picking our noses here.
***EDIT***
I don't have time at this moment to devote my full attention to this so its going to be shelved until I have time or until this weekend.

Molly, Hijab is totally under represented. There's a "The View" like show on Egyptian channel OTV. all 5 of them are non-hijabed. How is that when most women in Masr wear the scarf. There are so many more examples.
Also..sorry...Any Egyptian actress who decides to veil...just disapears from the movies. Can't get a job with that cloth on her head.
i happen to know sharon otterman...she knows here business. is it the truth of her observations that she takes issue with?
i myself think it's ludicrous that tv ignores the reality of egyptian society in almost every way. HOWEVER, you must note that women who are actually veiled (as opposed to acting the part of a velied woman) regard acting as an immodest career and retire voluntarily.
note also that otv is owned by a christian and intentionally tries to promote a secular image. why not - there are plenty of all-islam, all the time satellite tv channels.
actually dear, I took no offense from her writings at all. I thought she represented the issue well. I have other things to discuss about that article, just not the time.
When you're going to come here and read what I say, please leave the chip on your shoulder at the door. As I do when you I go your blog.
Thanks.
